Top 5 Free to Play MMOs and MMORPGs at Gamescom 2011
Vindictus: Extreme Edition
Originally released in North America as a standard MMORPG, Vindictus has recently received a glamorous second coat of paint. Known now as Extreme Edition, the European release of Vindictus has received a fast-paced, action-packed dose of healthy inspiration, and the results speak for themselves.
The general gameplay is simple: you begin playing in a ‘lobby’ area designed to help you find other players, and upon successfully finding a group, you’re transported to a dungeon of your choice where you’ll use one of 5 classes to wreck unlimited action-packed havoc on hundreds of great looking foes. To do this you’ll use a number of different weapons, and the environments are fully destructible, so breaking down a pillar and then throwing at your enemies is just the beginning.
Age of Wulin
Gpotato have been hiding this little gem away for a while now, but the cat’s most definitely out of the bag. Enter Age of Wulin: the first Eastern MMORPG in existence to offer gameplay innovation that could rival the mighty World of Warcraft.
This one has more new features than I can remember, but the highlights were unforgettable: running along walls, across water and up the side of buildings was a nice start, watching the characters perform perfect martial arts moves during combat was another, and we were keenly interested in the ‘your character becomes an NPC when you log off’ element… but that’s a story for another day.
Firefall
Is this one free? I forget. I definitely hope it’s free; it looks incredible. The basic idea is that it’s a third-person shooter placed within an open-world MMORPG, but while PvE gameplay does take place within the open-world environment, PvP is arena style room-based.
Utilising some impressive cel-shaded visuals, Firefall offers smooth, fast-paced shooter gameplay with level progression and real world exploration, and I’ve been assured that latency isn’t an issue. So far, we’ve only had a chance to try out the PvP gameplay, which, without the chance to upgrade and customise our weapons felt mostly like your average third-person shooter, but from what we’ve heard this one’s going to be a lot of fun.
Wildstar
Come to think of it, I’m not sure if this one will be Free to Play either. Let’s just assume that it will be eventually, and go with that. Wildstar is the latest brain-child online game from NCSoft. Developed by Carbine Studios, Wildstar is a Sci-Fi MMORPG with a cartoonish art style that looks to be bringing a number of new features to the table.
While there’s no official release date as yet, we did have the chance to play around for a few minutes and learn a little about some of the features to come. One that caught my eye was the challenge system, which activates additional challenges upon the completing of a quest, such as completing it again within the allotted time frame. The class creation system also looked to be something unique, though we’ll need to wait another few months before we can talk about it.
Allods Online (Expansion)
Allods may not be the latest in F2P MMORPG gaming, but it’s certainly one of the greatest. There’s really no denying it: at present, Allods is about as good as it gets, and with the implantation of some of the features we saw at Gamescom, we've been getting really excited again.
The most obvious updates are those made to the user interface, such as the chat and guild windows. Though there were plenty more than that. Most interestingly was the new upgradeable player housing system, which builds on the old ‘flying ship house system’ by allowing you to change just about every
part of your ship to make it feel like home.
Fish World
Fish World puts you in control of a virtual aquarium. Take care of your fish, feed them, decorate their tanks, and keep them happy! Get your friends involved with gifts, caring for their fish, and cleaning their tanks.
Fish World Review and Information
Genre: Aquarium Simulation
Developer name: Tall Tree Games
There are several Aquarium related games on Facebook, Happy Aquarium and Fishville collect the most users, maybe because of that Fish World doesn’t have more players, as for the game itself, it is similar to those mentioned. You have your own aquarium (more as you advance in the game), have to breed various species of fish, feed them, keep them happy, and eventually sell them. You can also decorate you tanks with multiple items. As usual some items and fish will only be available as you level up. The graphics are nice and the fish and decorations detailed, nothing wrong there.
All the social features are included, gifting, visiting your friends to help them out in their aquariums, etc. Some extra nice touches (that are more and more usual), include quests, that involve you to ask your friends for something, like the strawberry Crab quest, that when finished will grant you a crab to cleanup your aquarium, all you need is to ask your friends for a algae to feed him.
Another quite unusual, or at least it has nothing to do with aquariums, is the possibility to play bingo, this can be used when your are waiting for some fish to grow or other stuff, or just to pass time.
Fish World is one of the best aquarium simulations on Facebook, but maybe all the offer are too much alike, and the competition stated recruiting first.

Use deep strategy to build up cities, march great armies, forge alliances and conquer your enemies!
Samurai Dynasty Review and Information
Genre: Strategy
Developer name: Kabam
Kabam is known by their Facebook strategy games, like Kingdoms of Camelot or Warfare, they have a reputation on developing good, solid strategy games, the number of players in those games states that. Another good thing is they can use their expertize on this type of games to develop other games in that specific genre or not…
Samurai Dynasty is too familiar for who ever played any of the above mentioned games, mainly Kingdom’s of Camelot. Except for the Theme, everything is so familiar, the way the game is structured, Main city screen, fields city screen, world screen, even the graphics and game layout are the same, the buildings serve similar purposes, farms, sawmills, Stone Pit and Mines are placed the exact same way, but with more Oriental touch. The city screen is also very similar, with houses, academies and upgrades…
Samurai Dynasty Field Screen
All of this doesn’t mean of course the game is bad, actually it is rather very nice, very fast paced tutorial and gameplay, in the tutorial all goes fast, and you’ll have lots of stuff built in no time, this will give players a great progression sensation.
You have to level up to be able to upgrade your buildings and units, and get access to new ones. You have to do research for new technology, which in turn will allow for better buildings and units.
When you first play the game you have a Beginner’s Protection for 7 days, in that time you cannot be attacked, this allows you to prepare yourself and learn all the necessary stuff to survive long the game, it also ensures a more even gameplay between all players, avoiding new players to be crushed by more experienced ones even before start.
Don’t forget to play the Yuna game, ate least one time a day to receive several bonus, this rewards players for playing regularly.
Samurai Dynasty Daily Yuna game
Overall, Samurai Dynasty is another great strategy game by Kabam, but it is too equal to Kingdom’s of Camelot, and as they are both demanding and deep, it is difficult to play both, I doubt that Kingdom’s of Camelot players will play this one, unless they happen to really like the Samurai theme…
If you never played and want to give a try to a great Facebook strategy game, you should at least try Samurai Dynasty.

Total Domination: Nuclear Strategy Review and Information
Genre: Strategy
Developer name: PLARIUM
Total Domination: Nuclear Strategy is a new Facebook Strategy Game, the game is set in a post apocalyptic scenario, and you are in charge of a military Base and have to make your way until you defeat all your enemies.
The game offers some of the better graphics I have seen in this genre of games, the full narration of the game tasks is great and leaves your with the feeling of really being inside the game.
The full screen mode allows for a deeper game experience as usual, although inTotal Domination is almost mandatory, because in normal screen the game crops part of the game screen.
Total domination features a detailed and entertaining tutorial, mainly because of the voice-over narration, providing all the game basic gameplay knowledge.
As for features, you can count on almost everything, lots of building, units types, detailed interaction in every game aspect, possibility to trade resources and research modules, upgrades, etc.
The only thing missing is the usual chat option, already standard in other similar games. The game help is really detailed and features a very well structured manual accessible from the game screen, from resources to player interaction, you are sure to find what you are looking for in there.

NanoStar Siege is not a new Facebook Game, but here at Facebook Games List our goal is to list all Facebbok Games and this one was missing. This is a strategy game not very frequent on Facebook, much more when it was launched, nonetheless this is a real great strategy game that combine real time battles with economic planning.
The game is mix between Tower Defense and Collectible Card Game, your goal is to fight and defeat other players castles while defending your own castle.
The game is mix between Tower Defense and Collectible Card Game, your goal is to fight and defeat other players castles while defending your own castle.
Nanostar games, as this cards can be used in other nanostar games, and you can just collect them.
NanoStar Siege graphics and game are fantastic featuring great battle effects and animations.
While not being a new game on Facebook, and not getting so far many players, maybe to the deep and demanding gameplay, but it is for sure a strategy game for fans of the genre. If you are one and have not played this game yet, lucky for you that we brought it here!

Championship Manager: Rivals – Football & Soccer
Championship Manager: Rivals – Football & Soccer Review and Information
Genre: Footbal Manager, Sports
Developer name: Jolt Online Gaming
Championship Manager: Rivals is a Football management game, you have to coach your team, setup game tactics and substitutions, buy and sell players.
You start the game by choosing your team from multiple leagues including the Italian, German, Spanish, French and English first divisions.
You can invite friends to play and you will receive bonus cash for doing so, but this is as far as social features go for the moment, you also chat with other players, friendly matches are planned to be integrated soon.
Championship Manager: Rivals is a solid manager game, training is necessary to keep your team as fit as possible, after every match your players fitness goes done a little, so you have to do some training to balance, also you should try different training exercises to obtain the best overall result.
Overall the still misses some key features, the other managers have, but is likely to be a nice choice for football manager fans.

Millionaire Boss
Millionaire Boss Review and Information
Genre: Simulation, Management
Developer name: Digital Chocolate, Inc.
Millionaire Boss is a Facebook game where you are the Boss of a small financial Office, and your goal is to turn it into a big and successful Empire. You are competing against your old Boss, which you can visit by the way… Lucinda Loot from LootCo will be in your friends bar.
You have to hire employees, and assign them work, different task differ on time and on revenue, the longer the time the more money you get. You also have to decorate your office, by acquiring chairs and desks, and other items to improve your employees happiness and productivity.
Millionaire Boss is very soon, very demanding on friends, although you can hire friends to work as manager without them playing the game, there are many tasks and quests that demand asking for your friends active help, so initially you’ll a little stuck and with some difficulty to progress, of course you can pay Facebook Credits instead, by in my opinion is too soon to pay when you are still starting a game, and you don’t know if you really like it.
Visiting friends allows you to motivate their workers, and gives you experience and cash, also gifting is obviously present. Avatar customization is available, and you can change a lots of things, from your general appearance to to clothes.
Technically the game seems too demanding on hardware resources, and soon after you start playing, the game starts to slow down not providing a good gameplay experience… graphics and sound are standard. This is a game for Office management fans who want to experience how to run a financial Empire.

The Sims Social
The Sims Social Review and Information
Genre: Virtual World, Simulation
Developer name: Electronic Arts
The Sims Social on Facebook has finally reached open beta, and is available to all. It’s the Sims, it’s social, and you can play for free on Facebook, what else can you want? Well it is not actually completely equal to the Retail version… so lets take a look to what are the differences and main first impressions. And if you are not familiar with the Sims, it is a great opportunity to know more
After choosing your initial avatar, you are taken to the game environment, the plot sets you in your new home unpacking your stuff, and you are welcome by Bella a friendly neighbor that will help you settle in. She will guide you through the first steps of the game on a short tutorial.
You learn to interact with the different objects, and the basic gameplay routines, like eating, taking care of your personal hygiene and bladder issues, sleeping, and socializing or just how to have some fun.
The Sims Social, is a very complete game, with lots of features, your character may develop skills in diverse areas, you may develop those skills by practicing, playing the guitar for example, or writing article in the computer, you will get skill points to spend in traits, traits are special abilities your Sim can have, each will give you a certain advantage in something in the game, you have to choose which you prefer.
The game will provide you quests, this serve for you to get used to the game pace, and to further know more on your options, and there are so many, you have your house to take care and live in, along with a garden, to do some “farming”, and taking care of your garden.
Socially, well The Sims is Social, so you can get an idea, lots of options when you visit your friends house, from simple break the ice talk to flirting or even insulting, you can do pretty much everything, you can also interact with your friends house items, turn up the stereo to dance or grab a bit using their Microwave, so imagine the possibilities!
There are lots of other stuff in the game, but it is also fun to discover for yourself, at this point and as the game was released earlier today, it is still suffering from some instability, and connection problems, also the 1 million players on the first day seems to be crashing the server…but this problems should be soon solved.

The Settlers – My City
The Settlers – My City Review and Information
Genre: City Building, Management
Developer name: Ubisoft
The Settlers – My City, is City Building / Management game, or more precisely a Kingdom building and management game, you start with a devastated small village, and you have to make it prosper to its once greatest glory.
This is done by building and producing goods, and not by force, the game as some of the most fantastic visuals I have ever seen in a Facebook game, with lots of detail and animations.
There much more to the game, you can gamble in the casino, visit friends and look for hidden treasures in their kingdoms, send gifts, or ask for particular resources that you need. The game also features achievements which is always nice
As usual, pretty much everything you do will give you experience and rewards, this will allow you to level up and gain access to other building, decoration and game features.Later in the game you can even play a mini-game of battle in the tavern.
